‘It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.

Proverbs 25:2

During the Second Temple context of Jesus’ ministry, the two highest values in Galilean  life were Community and the Text. The wisdom was that you wanted two kinds of people in your life: A Rabbi and a Friend who would study with you. Deep at the heart of this statement was the idea that collaborative learning was the ideal.

In the first century Jewish world of Jesus, a sage would gather a group of students. Their goal was not just to learn the text but embody it like the Rabbi. This group of students was called a Haverim (a group of friends who study together). Join us for a seminar where for a day we lay down our Western individualistic model of study and where we explore this Eastern collaborative model of bible study and try our hand at this ancient practice the opens up the Word in 4K-3D-and full Stereo sound!

Join us for a day workshop as we explore the idea of Haverim… friends who study together.

SPEAKER: MARK HENDLEY

A Christian since 1993, Mark has been in vocational Christian Ministry since 1999. He is a graduate of Moorlands Bible College and was awarded a Degree in Applied Theology and the Preaching Prize. He has trained with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and studied Biblical Archaeology with Bar Ilan University, Israel.

Mark has served full time in both the Baptist and New Frontiers spheres and has ministered in the UK and abroad; within Anglican, Baptist, Presbyterian, Free Church, Charismatic and Pentecostal circles. He has spent time in Iraq, Egypt, Jordan and Israel, which might explain his passion for the Geography, History and Culture of the Ancient Near Eastern world of the Bible. Since founding The Stones Cry Out, he has hosted thousands of Christians on tours of the British Museum’s biblical artefacts, and text focussed trips to Israel.

Mark is passionate about quality, interactive and inspired teaching that unlocks the Scriptures for believers, so that they can mine the riches so often clouded by the distance of Time, Space and Culture.
